The HELP Center, on N. Ames Street, was built and completely paid for by caring, supportive people! The front door of the Center opens into the assistance area, for those who have needs and request services.      The mission of the Matthews HELP Center is to serve and care for those in our community by providing programs and services that meet life's basic needs. Respect, time and a sense of dignity are given to all who enter.      The "back porch” of the Center is the entrance to our Thrift Shop, Backporch Treasures. This wonderful shop serves many needs. Everyone is welcome to come in, browse and shop for fantastic bargains! The money generated by the Thrift Shop, along with financial donations from the community, allows the mission of the Center to be fulfilled.      All of this is possible because of the dedicated volunteers who come to the Center offering their time, talent, and care. This small community organization is tremendously effective because of them.
